Sensex closes 59 points down in volatile trade
By ians • Nov 18th, 2009 • Category: BusinessMumbai, Nov 18, A key index of the Indian equities markets snapped its three-day winning streak Wednesday and ended a choppy session 76 points below its previous close.

India's Sensex
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened lower at 17,032.01 points, closed at 16,974.55 points, down 76.1 points from its previous close.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader S&P CNX Nifty also closed in the red at 5,051.9 points, down 0.20 percent from the last close.
However, investors found favour with broader market indices, with the BSE midcap index closing 17.2 points higher and the BSE small cap index 57.39 points up.

- Sensex makes up losses, but still closes lower (Third Lead) Mumbai, July 27 (IANS) A key index of the Indian equities markets managed to recoup most of its losses Monday to end trade 11 points lower than its previous close. The 30-scrip benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened at 15,350.89 points, lost 11.49 points or 0.07 percent to close at 15,367.47 points (provisional). The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), however, closed 0.04 percent higher at 4,570.45 points. Broader market indices did better and ended in the positive terrain, with the BSE midcap index closing 1.58 percent up and the BSE smallcap index ending 1.41 percent higher.
