Fourth swine flu death in Gujarat
By ians • Aug 21st, 2009 • Category: Health NewsAhmedabad, Aug 20,A 35-year-old man died of swine flu in the civil hospital here Thursday, taking the toll due to the viral disease to four in Gujarat, an official said.
Chetan Pratapbhai Patel was admitted in the civil hospital Aug 16 after being referred from a private hospital in Odhav area of the city. His samples were sent for testing and confirmation of the H1N1 virus infection received Wednesday, a senior resident doctor of the civil hospital said.
Patel’s condition improved for a while Wednesday after the ventilator was taken off, but it deteriorated again and he died Thursday.
The death of Patel was initially not disclosed by the hospital authorities. This is the second swine flu death in Ahmedabad in the past one week. One death each has been reported from Surat and Vadodara cities.
