By ians • Nov 3rd, 2009 • Category: Nation India

New Delhi, Nov 3,India needs to be on guard against the spillover of terrorism from the Afghanistan-Pakistan region, Indian Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor said Tuesday.

“The whole region (Afghanistan-Pakistan) is affected by terrorists. We need to be on guard against it,” Kapoor told reporters here.

Pakistan witnessed three suicide terrorist attacks Monday which left over 35 dead.

The army chief refuted Pakistan’s allegations that India was fomenting terror in Balochistan.

“I just want to say that Pakistan should remain stable. We do not have any interests there and we have not supported any group there,” the army chief said.

Security agencies are alert against a repeat of the audacious Mumbai terror attack and are prepared to face any eventuality, Kapoor added.

“The defence ministry and home ministry have already alerted us. We are prepared for any eventuality,” he said.
